Victoria Cross by ChevronTango Victoria Cross by ChevronTango
Right, here's round two at the Medals Of the UK. Again I'm really enjoying the research into this as much as I am the actual making. Illustrator is driving me a bit up the bend but then I'm used to photoshops "that will do" attitude so I'm sure its all my fault. scale in the preview is about 1mm:10px

In thise one I've gone for the Court mounting to just demonstrate the look of it and also to give an idea of the relative sizes of the medal. The cross is 36mm wide whilst the ribbon is 38mm. If someone who knows better can give me some more accurate or alternatively more correct measurements for any of the medals I do I'd be more than grateful. I'll likely be playing around with some of the details in this one for a while as the inscription isn't quite right, nor is the ribbon it sits on.

SVG format because I can, and I appreciate feedback where possible. Not sure I'll be bashing these out as quickly as I have been in the future but I'll certainly be looking for a complete collection now I've started.

Not sure. It depends on your system and if your buying Illustrator by itself or part of the CS5 pack. It will set you back a bit though however you do it. Google it to see what you can find. Its also availiable from most major PC shops though they may want to sell you photoshop instead. Photoshop is good and if your not skilled with vector Graphics its likely the best place to start.
